New ARION WL line of circuit breakers, up to 6300A

Allow us to introduce to you the new ARION WL air circuit breakers, from 630A to 6300A, which replace the ARION circuit breakers.

The new circuit breakers have several design improvements that will make them easier for service personnel to handle. For designers, they offer a broader range of applications due to their higher breaking capacity and more options of overcurrent releases.

Going through the biggest change was the assembly for the electronic overcurrent releases, whose control elements are better arranged. A total of six types of releases are available, ranging from the simplest to the most complex that has a graphic display dedicated to, for example, protection of the 5-conductor system. The function of the release unit is controlled by a microprocessor, which allows for a wide range of reductions of the rated current by as much as 0-60%. The shape of the tripping characteristic is set up with rotating latched switches similar to those on the releases of the ARION circuit breakers. Standard equipment on the circuit breaker includes an ETU25B-type electronic release. It is relatively the simplest release with partially selective overcurrent release, which can be utilised in about 80% of applications. Type ARION WL circuit breakers are used in a protection chain as main breakers, because they are intended for more demanding operating specifications (e.g. higher rated currents, higher breaking capacity and higher short-time withstand current than can be achieved using a moulded case circuit breaker, and, if need be, the requirement of a 4-pole circuit breaker design). In addition to one of the most simple overcurrent releases, the ETU15B, all the other releases are equipped with communicating push-buttons. These buttons enable the operator to identify which of the partial releases caused the shut-off of the breaker, if the initial impulse for closing was sent from a thermal release, selective short-circuit, instantaneous short-circuit or by a ground release. Once the defect has been repaired, for continuing operation of the breaker it is necessary for the operator to push the RESET button located above the release on the front panel (similar to the AR breaker’s "horn push-button“).

Electronic releases are equipped with the so-called RETING - PLUG module. With this cube-shaped module, which is inserted into the cavity of the release, it is possible, for a single model size, to broaden the regulation range of rated current up to about 94%. The process is similar to that of exchanging current transformers for the presently used ARION breakers.

Conspicuous even at first glance is the design modification that is the integrated handle for releasing the withdrawable-design circuit breakers from the support frame. The withdrawing procedure from the support frame is illustrated by way of a pictogram on the front panel. Other design changes include fastening of the auxiliary releases, which have simplified installation in the case of their additional mounting. The circuit breakers are offered in three series for breaking capacities N, S and H. The H series includes breaking capacity up to 100 kA / 440V.

Modularity was a guiding principle throughout the design of the circuit breakers, so commonly available accessories can be used (undervoltage release, shunt trip, auxiliary switch, motor drive, withdrawable devices, etc.). By means of connecting terminals one can change the connection in both the fixed and withdrawable circuit breakers to a rear, vertical or front connection. Using special connecting and mounting sets it is possible to retrofit model AR and ARV circuit breakers.
